At the political juncture of July and August in Mexico, a decision is at stake that will determine not only a legislature, but much more than that, a type of political regime.
The make-up of the Chamber of Deputies and especially the rules for distributing the 200 proportional representation deputies. The interpretation that the electoral authorities give to these rules will lead us either to respect for the pluralism actually voted for by Mexicans on 2 June, or to a major distortion in which an over-representation will be gratuitously granted to the official coalition, a simple majority will become a qualified majority. If it succeeds, Mexico will experience a major political regression.
